Valentine's Day

Kyle drove up from Phoenix to spend Valentine's Day with us. He tried to fly but was using a buddy pass and couldn't get on the flight. So, he got in the car and drove up. We were very excited to see him! We all went to lunch, Gavin picked Chuck-A-Rama, and then to the mall where Kyle bought us Valentine gifts. Gavin got a new Wii game and I got a very cute shirt. That night Kyle and I had a wonderful Japanese dinner at The Last Samurai and stayed at a hotel downtown. We had so much fun. Best Valentine's Day yet!

Kyle had to drive back to Phoenix Valentine's evening so Mom and Dad took Me, Gavin, Patrick and Quinn to Market Street for dinner.

Superstar!

Gavin is doing so well in school. He was on the honor role for first semester and we just found out he was the Student of the Month for January. He has become such a good reader and is starting to enjoy reading "just for fun". I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to work with him at home and see him learn and grow each day.

School is fun. My favorite subjects are probably art, history and reading. I like reading when I can read stories and not just do papers and write stuff. I love Mommy, she's a good teacher I guess.

Family Date Night

We all drove up to Salt Lake. I will spend the next few weeks working and Kyle will return to Phoenix for school. Before Kyle had to head back the three of us had a fun family night. Dinner at Kyle's favorite restaurant, La Frontera, then we saw the movie "The Tooth Fairy". Cute movie, I enjoy seeing Julie Andrews in just about anything.

"The Tooth Fairy" was amazingly funny.

And the Project of the Day...

STAPLING! Many, many pages being stapled together as small as possible.

Today I stapled A LOT of papers because it is really, really fun. My mom said she didn't care, so I did it.

Yesterday Gavin and I were excited to find the $2 book sale at Barnes and Noble. We bought a wonderful book with images of objects under an electron microscope. Gavin loves it. We also bought a book on how to draw sea creatures. Gavin spent the morning with his sketchbook and drew these wonderful pictures of a squid and an eel!

And...after spending six hours doing school I had finally sat down to do some of my own work. Suddenly I hear, "My snake broke!" The "snake" is a toy consisting of a rubber tube filled with water that is dyed blue.  Gavin comes running down the hall and keeps on going through the apartment when I realize he is carrying the broken snake in his hand in a state of utter panic followed by a stream of blue water. I spent the next hour trying to scrub blue dye from the bedroom, hallway and living room carpet. But, the complete usurping six years ago of any kind of time that doesn't involve my favorite little person is of course more than worth it. And you have to love it when he tells you, "Mmmmm, mommy...you smell so good. Like spaghetti and candy!" He's the best.

Valentine Boxes

We made monster Valentine boxes today with the homeschool friends. The kids had lots of fun. Gavin also made balloon swords for everyone. He was quite the hit.

Journey, Tanner, Triston, Asher and Gavin

It was really, really fun to make the monster mailboxes. All of my friends were there. The googly eyes were googly and the teeth were sharp and white.

Domino Guy

Another of Gavin's latest interests is building domino sets. He spends a great deal of time creating these and is very patient even when they fall down before he's done. Each one is very unique. He also likes looking up videos online to check out sets other people have built and get new ideas. So cute.

This was the best set I ever made. I loved it. I want to get a bridge and one of those things the marble goes down because it will make my sets cooler and awesomer.

Best Day Ever

Gavin and I had such a great day. He was very creative this morning and made the masterpiece below.

We went exploring in the neighborhood and found some great places to ride his Razor scooter. It was such a lovely day and wonderful to be outside in just sweaters in January!

We had lunch at Sonic. While we were waiting for our food we created a "Michael Jackson" station on Pandora and sang "Beat It", "Thriller" and "Eye of the Tiger" as loud as we could in the car. Gavin then made "poop piles" with his grape slush.

After lunch we checked out the party store and bought some valentines and balloons. Earlier today Gavin earned a prize on bookadventure.com which was a booklet on making balloon animals. When we got home Gavin sat down and learned how to make balloon dogs, swords and dinosaurs. It is the cutest thing ever.

So much fun with my beautiful, imaginative, intelligent, wonderful boy!

It was a really fun day. We did this thing where I got points for reading and I used the points for something amazing. I also went riding on my Razor scooter. After that we went to Sonic to eat and then we went to the party store and then after that we went to the grocery store and then after the grocery store home. We blew up all these cool balloons because that was what I used my points for, how to make balloon animals. We blew up balloons for the rest of the night. The End.
